Visit Dunlap Coke Ovens
Entry and parking are free!
Just a short drive from downtown Dunlap, the Dunlap Coke Ovens Park & Museum offers a fascinating window into our region’s coal‑mining past and a beautiful place to explore today. The park spans 88 wooded acres and preserves the remains of 268 historic “beehive” coke ovens — echoes of the early 1900s when coal from nearby Fredonia Mountain was converted into industrial coke for iron and steel foundries.
At the heart of the park is a full‑size replica of the original company store, now home to the Coke Ovens Museum. Inside, you’ll find hundreds of mining artifacts, historical photographs, and documents — including the largest regional collection of coal‑mining images in Tennessee.
The grounds are open sunrise to sunset, year‑round, welcoming self‑guided hikes among the ovens, a creek, and shaded walking paths. The museum building is typically open weekends (April–November) for visitors.
Whether you’re interested in local history, geology, or simply a peaceful outdoor stroll, Dunlap Coke Ovens Park & Museum is a perfect getaway — right in our backyard.
For more info, including hours and contact details, visit the official website: cokeovens.com
We hope you’ll take the time to explore this special part of our community’s heritage.
